{"id":302,"date":"2017-04-11T22:23:26","date_gmt":"2017-04-11T22:23:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/?p=302"},"modified":"2017-04-17T21:12:40","modified_gmt":"2017-04-17T21:12:40","slug":"302","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/2017\/04\/11\/302\/","title":{"rendered":"Economic Development \u2013 Monthly Report \u2013 March 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Commercial Properties (vacancies, new businesses, etc.): <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>La Bamba \u201cNuevo\u201d<\/u>:\u00a0 Work continues as Mr. Vicenttin shoots for a Cinco de Mayo opening.\u00a0 Unclear as to whether or not this will occur, as there is still quite a bit of work to be completed here.<\/p>\n<p><u>Timberline Meats<\/u>:\u00a0 Work continues on this project as well.\u00a0 Exterior is getting closed to completion, both on the main building pictured here and on the stand alone garage. \u00a0Interior utility work is mostly done, and counter construction will begin shortly. Exterior of the buildings are close to completion with the exception of landscaping &#8212; concrete (ADA ramps) and asphalt work are in process.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through\"><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-306\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats-1024x770.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats-1024x770.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats-768x577.jpg 768w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats-399x300.jpg 399w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/TimberlineMeats.jpg 1119w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Carlson property<\/u>:\u00a0 This project is very close to completion now.\u00a0 The site has been paved and striped, and a new monument sign (see below) has been installed at the site.\u00a0 As of this writing, there are three carts currently on site (not open for business), but the owner tells us that he anticipates most if not all\u00a0slots being filled on opening day, which should be before May Day. \u00a0(Depending on how successful this project is, it is possible that parking could become an issue of contention with this pod in one manner or another \u2013 we are monitoring the situation as the pod goes live, and will keep Council informed of any issues that arise)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/Sandlandia-sign.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-303\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/Sandlandia-sign-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/Sandlandia-sign-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/Sandlandia-sign-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/Sandlandia-sign-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/Sandlandia-sign-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Scooter\u2019s Sports Bar &amp; Restaurant (Sandy Marketplace)<\/u>:\u00a0 The body of the building has now been painted red with a gray trim, and the roof will get a coat of charcoal paint once the weather dries out.\u00a0 All signage is installed.\u00a0 The business owner is getting close to completion with this project, and is projecting a May opening date if all goes well.<\/p>\n<p><u>Rias\u2019 Bar\/Sandy Family Restaurant<\/u>:\u00a0 This building is currently being re-roofed by the owner as part of a regular maintenance schedule.\u00a0 The wood shingle roof is being replaced by a metal roof that is becoming increasingly common around the City.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">DQ<\/span>: \u00a0Updates to their free standing signs triggered &#8220;Sandy Style&#8221; upgrades in the form of stone wraps for the base of both signs (see below).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/DQsignbase.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-311\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/DQsignbase-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/DQsignbase-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/DQsignbase-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/DQsignbase-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2017\/04\/DQsignbase-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project work:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>City departmental webpages<\/u>: The Planning &amp; Building page has now been updated to incorporate input from the new Planning &amp; Building Director.\u00a0 This will conclude the updating of this department page for now, although we might discuss more changes and a possible complete redesign later in the year when both of our \u201cto-do\u201d lists are not as full.<\/li>\n<li><u>Planning &amp; Building Department<\/u>: Work on incorporating updates and improvements to process within this department continue, but we are making a good amount of progress on all fronts.\u00a0 We have reviewed the fa\u00e7ade program, culminating in the changes we brought to Council at the 4\/3 meeting, and are much more comfortable with the operation of the program now.\u00a0 The same is true of procedures for urban renewal assistance with streetscape improvements, and webpage improvements are complete.\u00a0 Working now on food cart issues (VIJ Eatery to move down to AntFarm Outdoor Building space; managing rollout of Sandlandia), potential outreach to breweries and a fa\u00e7ade upgrade for Brad Picking\u2019s building across the street from City Hall.\u00a0 I also plan to work with this department to develop strategies to further beautify and improve the downtown business district (Blade sign grant program to replace A-frame program?
