{"id":479,"date":"2022-07-07T00:53:49","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T00:53:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/?p=479"},"modified":"2022-07-07T00:53:56","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T00:53:56","slug":"economic-development-monthly-report-june-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/2022\/07\/07\/economic-development-monthly-report-june-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Economic Development \u2013 Monthly Report \u2013 June 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>Internal projects<\/strong><\/em><strong>:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Permanent Outdoor Covered Structures grant program:\u00a0 The status of the first round of this program is reviewed semi-monthly at the City of Sandy Ec Dev Advisory Board meeting \u2013 here is the status of the program as of June 2022:<br><ul><li>Tollgate Inn \u2013 The City\u2019s Building Official and the Sandy Fire Marshall have concluded that a dry horizontal drywall head added to the existing fire sprinkler system would be adequate fire protection for this structure.\u00a0 Keystone Architecture is now moving forward and integrating this element into its overall design \u2013 he is currently working with the manufacturer and their engineer to incorporate the sprinkler head into the design.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>All other projects are now complete, structurally and financially.<br><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2022\/07\/Smoky-Hearth-CS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/economicdevelopment\/files\/2022\/07\/Smoky-Hearth-CS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-480\" width=\"602\" height=\"343\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Smoky Hearth covered structure &#8211; July 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Covered Structures Round 2:\u00a0 Designs for the second round of the City of Sandy Covered Structures grant program were reviewed at the SURA and City Council meetings on January 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2022.\u00a0 Here is the status for this round of the program as of June 2022:<br><ul><li>La Bamba Mexican Restaurant \u2013 Currently under construction; as of July 1, the construction of the structure is complete.\u00a0 Left to do: metal roof panel installation, stone wrap installation, gutters and downspouts, electrical work.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Thai Home \u2013 Project on hold pending resolution of medical situation. \u00a0We will touch base with them and provide an update on this situation later in the summer of 2022.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Wippersnappers Kid\u2019s Play Place \u2013 Waiting on design with modifications from the engineer \u2013 should be available in early July.<\/li><li>The Smoky Hearth \u2013 Currently under construction; as of July 1, the construction of the structure is mostly complete.\u00a0 Left to do: complete tie back to existing building, metal roof panel installation, stone wrap installation, gutters and downspouts, electrical work.<br><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Economic Development items:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Econ Devl &#8211; July 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Fa\u00e7ade project \u2013 Alan Fleischman church entry:\u00a0 The flat work for this project is now complete.\u00a0 Railing installation should take place during the month of July.\u00a0 As you can see in the picture above, the Urban Renewal Agency replaced three full sidewalk panels per orders from the City Building Official due to settling and accumulated damage over the years.\u00a0 This repair cost the URA less than $4,000 and corrects several issues with this section of pedestrian right-of-way, including the ADA trip hazard initially identified at the corner of the adjacent driveway apron (also replaced) and significant slope issues.\u00a0 The installation of railings and handrails will complete this project.<\/li><li>Fa\u00e7ade project \u2013 Clackamas County\u2019s Sandy Health Clinic:\u00a0 This project is very near to completion but is currently experiencing delays due to the availability of some of the electrical infrastructure.\u00a0 The project manager says that the contractor (Banlin Construction) is still experiencing delays with regard to the delivery of circuit boards for the HVAC &amp; July 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em><u>Econ Devl \u2013 Internal Projects<\/u><\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Downtown maintenance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>AF Downtown Maintenance:&nbsp; AntFarm Outdoor Programs Manager Neal Hatley and his downtown maintenance crew are almost complete with the first tranche of summer maintenance work, which has been mostly spot weeding (Museum, Sandy Family Dentistry, Sandy Bicycle, old La Bamba building, DQ, etc.), but has also included a few small planter strip overhauls at Barlow Trail Vet Clinic and 7 Eleven, and some detailed cleaning of the transit stop in front of Timberline Meats.<br><br>We will send over our second tranche of work as soon as they complete the first, which will include some slightly more visible work including substantial weeding at the Smith Building (to support the planned development at that site), the Sandy Smoke Shop and the Sandy Public Library.&nbsp; It will also include a complete overhaul of the landscaping at the Coin-op Car Wash and out in front of Brady\u2019s Brats &amp; Burgers, and the removal of some very old decorative railings that no longer connect to anything at the Edward Jones Building.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><u><br>Econ Devl \u2013 Economic Development Advisory Board<\/u><\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was no Economic Development Advisory Board meeting in the month of June.&nbsp; The next board meeting is currently scheduled for Wednesday, July 27<sup>th <\/sup>at 6:30 PM. &nbsp;The board will continue our \u201ccommunity conversation\u201d with Elliot Weiss of CAI at that meeting and hopefully be presented with some of CAI\u2019s initial work gathering current demographic information.&nbsp;
