\nView the Strategic Planning update in the area of Satisfy Curiosity<\/a>.\u00a0 Highlights include: 68.63% of people surveyed say that the programs at the library significantly enhance their leisure time, 98.69% of people say that they would recommend a library program to a friend.<\/p>\n

Giving Trees<\/strong> –\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>Sandy
\ndelivered 104 hats, scarves, gloves & mittens to the Sandy Community Action Center.\u00a0 Hoodland delivered 90 items to the Hoodland Community Christmas Basket Program through the Hoodland Fire Department.

Read to the Dog – 12 kids read to Ananda<\/p>\n

Wy’East Artisans Art Club – 11 kids and parents (only held 1 week in December)<\/p>\n

Anime Club – 34 teens attended<\/p>\n

\nLibrary Coffee House – 73 people came to listen Lloyd Jones play the blues<\/p>\n

Ongoing<\/strong>
\nPaint Nite – 20 people came to paint with Melissa Lawrence<\/p>\n

Photography Group – 9 people came to learn about the underwater and boudoir\u00a0photography of Kara Pesznecker Reavis<\/span><\/p>\n

Hoodland Bookclub – 9 people came to discuss Girl Waits with Gun<\/em> by Amy Stewart<\/p>\n

Public Notary – Hoodland 4<\/p>\n

Outreach to Spanish Language<\/strong>
\nVista Apartments – 31 kids and parents<\/p>\n

ESOL Tutoring – We held our first group event with tutors and learners, sang holiday songs and had a meal together.\u00a0 22 people attended!\u00a0 26 learners and 27 tutors had sessions.<\/p>\n

Two ESOL anecdotes:<\/div>\n
One of the tutors had an extra ticket to the ballet. She invited one of the students to attend with her. The two women had a wonderful time, as well as a real world opportunity to practice English.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
A 5 year-old at Vista Library program saw me handing out reminders to some of the kids re: the ESOL holiday gathering. She wanted to take one to her mom (who was not a student) and since the event was open to anyone interested in ESOL, I said sure, assuming it unlikely that the mom would come. Well the little girl did end up bringing her mom and the mom is now a student!<\/div>\n
