\n<\/strong>‘Seedy Saturday’ Seed Swap – 93 people came to swap seeds at Antfarm, ask questions of Master Gardeners, get recipes from Stephanie Stuart from the Oregon Food Bank, and listen to music provided by Sharon Sandgren & Friends. We held a seed packet stuffing party before the event that 9 volunteers came to.

Library Coffee House – 80 people came to listen to Chihuahua Desert play their Americana, Country, Folk, Rock & Hispanic music.<\/p>\n

Meditation for regular people – 15 people attended<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>ESOL Tutoring – 43 tutoring sessions with 48 people learning English took place in January.\u00a0 Numbers of students continue to rise!\u00a0 We are now doing larger group tutoring sessions two days a week that then break up into small groups.\u00a0 \u00a0This style appears to be working well.<\/p>\n

Book Group – Men’s 6 people came to discuss Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, Women’s 5 people came to discuss Peaches for Father Francis, by Joanne Harris, Mystery 11 people came to discuss Private Vegas by James Patterson, and Hoodland 10 people came to discuss American Fire by Monica Hesse.<\/p>\n

Meetings
\n<\/strong>On January 3rd there was a special meeting of LDAC to give input on the possible amendment to the Master Order of the Library District.\u00a0 LDAC members and citizens spoke about the possibilities, and expressed many concerns.\u00a0 On their January 18th meeting, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) heard testimony and announced that they had negotiated with the City of Gladstone to change their settlement agreement to allow for more time to make changes to the Master Order.\u00a0 The BCC also announced their intention to create a task force to work on the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
