Public Library Association Conference<\/strong> took place in Portland March 22-25.  This national conference brought over 4500 people to the area.  Preconferences, library vendors, great guest speakers, and libraries presented on important topics such as DEI community conversations and practices for libraries, emergency preparedness, program ideas, and of course books.  5 of us were able to attend the conference for at least one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Library Community Room is now fully set up for hybrid meetings and events!  <\/strong>Thank you to Scott Jones and Greg Brewster.  Our April Library Advisory Board meeting was our first hybrid event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Computer Users<\/strong>
Sandy 506 sessions
Hoodland 106 sessions

Mobile Printing <\/strong>Send prints from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.  Once the print job is sent, it will sit in a queue waiting to be released to print.  Call the library on the same day to have staff release the print job. Pick up your prints in person or through our Curbside Service.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandy – 22 users printed 126 jobs (390 pages)
Hoodland – 17 users printed 71 jobs (212 pages)

Library Cards<\/strong>  Sandy patrons created 24 ecards (107 new library accounts in person), Hoodland patrons created 3 ecards (21 in person).

Checkouts <\/strong>
Sandy – 2624 sessions. Averages 85 sessions\/day (up from 84 last month) 9845 items
Hoodland – 690 sessions.  Averages 26 sessions\/day (up from 25 last month) 2496 items

We checked out a total of 12,340<\/strong> items(up from last month\u2019s 10,897) through curbside pickup and browsing.

The Reading Tutoring program is starting back up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>Sandy After School Kids’ Club – 16 kids and 5 adults attended the Make & Take program <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoodland After School Kids\u2019 Club – 6 kids and 3 adults attended the Make & Take program<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take & Make – 78 kids (50 Sandy, 15 Hoodland, 13 Vista) picked up supplies for spinning tops<\/a>.  Our Take & Make kits for kids are  available on the 15th with an additional video on Facebook in case you can’t make it to the Make & Take program!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read to a Dog – 7 kids read to a dog virtually.  Starting in May, this program will again be in person in the library!

Storytimes at the gazebo in Meinig Park returned in March!<\/strong>
<\/strong>Storytime videos were posted in our Facebook Group: Sandy and Hoodland Libraries – Storytime Parents Group.  Use numbers were recorded after 1 week. All Storytimes were presented by librarian Monica Smith – unless otherwise noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
