Staffing Changes<\/strong>
We hired Shelver and Substitute Clerk Greg Fox in a 20 hour\/week Library Clerk position. You will see him regularly Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the Sandy Library. Also Kimberly Gomez-Ruelas is now a Substitute Clerk (previously a Shelver and Substitute Clerk). Kimberly will have regular shifts at Sandy Library Tuesday and Wednesday, and at Hoodland Library on Saturday. Kimberly also helps to lead our literacy and STEM programs at Vista Apartments on Thursday. Congratulations Greg and Kimberly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oregon Department of Human Services<\/strong> (DHS)
DHS is back in the Library starting in May!  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am – 3:00pm. DHS helps families meet basic needs and work towards self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mobile Printing <\/strong>Send prints from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.  Once the print job is sent, it will sit in a queue waiting to be released to print.  Call the library on the same day to have staff release the print job. Pick up your prints in person or through our Curbside Service.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandy – 30 users printed 121 jobs (430 pages)
Hoodland – 13 users printed 57 jobs (243 pages)

Library Cards<\/strong>  Sandy patrons created 13 ecards (92 new library accounts in person), Hoodland patrons created 15 cards in person.

Checkouts <\/strong>
Sandy – 2525 sessions. Average 84 sessions\/day (down from 85 last month) 9665 items
Hoodland – 617 sessions.  Average 24 sessions\/day (down from 26 last month) 2143 items

We checked out a total of 11,808<\/strong> items(down from last month\u2019s 12,340) through curbside pickup and browsing.

Dia del Nino – 198 kids and adults attended Children\u2019s Day at Sandy Library.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading Tutoring – 8 one hour sessions of reading tutoring happened in April (2 tutors and 2 students).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>Sandy After School Kids’ Club – 3 kids and 2 adults made catapults at the Make & Take program <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take & Make – 60 kids (50 Sandy, 10 Hoodland) picked up supplies for spinning tops.  Our Take & Make kits for kids are  available on the 15th with an additional video on Facebook in case you can’t make it to the Make & Take program!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read to a Dog – Starting in May, this program will again be in person in the library!

Storytimes at the gazebo in Meinig Park returned in March!<\/strong>
<\/strong>Storytime videos were posted in our Facebook Group: Sandy and Hoodland Libraries – Storytime Parents Group.  Use numbers were recorded after 1 week. All Storytimes were presented by librarian Monica Smith – unless otherwise noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Writing Group\u00a0 – 11 people attended our twice monthly writing group led by volunteer Gary Dohrer.\u00a0 Gary is a retired English professor with over 30 years of experience teaching writing and literature.
