Books Unite Us, Censorship Divides Us<\/a><\/strong> is the theme for 2022’s Banned Books Week. Every September for one week libraries across the country celebrate banned and challenged books. Total book challenges in 2022 set to exceed 2021 record<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between January 1 and August 31, 2022, ALA documented 681 attempts to ban or restrict library resources, and 1,651 unique titles were targeted.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe unprecedented number of challenges we\u2019re seeing already this year reflects coordinated, national efforts to silence marginalized or historically underrepresented voices and deprive all of us \u2013 young people, in particular \u2013 of the chance to explore a world beyond the confines of personal experience,\u201d said ALA President Lessa Kanani\u02bbopua Pelayo-Lozada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mobile Printing <\/strong>Send prints from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.  Once the print job is sent, it will sit in a queue waiting to be released to print.  Call the library on the same day to have staff release the print job. Pick up your prints in person or through our Curbside Service.

Hoodland – 18 users printed 52 jobs (71 pages)

We checked out a total of 11,371<\/strong> items(last month 12,934) curbside pickup and browsing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take & Make – 120 kids (100 Sandy, 20 Hoodland) picked up Spring in a box.  Our Take & Make kits for kids are available on the 15th with an additional video on Facebook in case you can’t make it to the Make & Take program!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading Tutoring – 12 one hour sessions of reading tutoring (1 tutor and 1 student each).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read to the Dog – 6 kids
