Staffing<\/strong><\/p>\n

July 1 marked the official start of the\u00a0new\u00a0Sandy and Hoodland Public Library Director. \u00a0Each staff member met with the Director to give input and share information about the library. \u00a0A management team was created, and planning has begun to reorganize and create efficiencies so that staff can work on creating a dynamic program plan for the coming year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two out of our four book clubs took a summer hiatus. The women’s book club will start up again in September and the Evening Mystery club will reconvene in October.<\/p>\n

On July 3\u00a0&\u00a08, Alton Chung brought stories and tales to life at the\u00a0Sandy and Hoodland\u00a0Libraries. \u00a0Families enjoyed hearing traditional native american tales, as well as, coming of age stories from Chung’s own childhood.\"altonchung\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>July 15 & 17 \u00a0Mad Science at Hoodland and Sandy Libraries. \u00a0Crazy experiments presented by Molly Molecule.<\/p>\n

July 16 Teen Program – All about Henna Tattooing. \u00a0Popular and fun. \u00a0Teens learned about henna tattoos and tattooed themselves and each\u00a0other.<\/p>\n

July 22 & 24 Red Yarn Hoodland and Sandy Libraries. \u00a0Great interactive stories, games, and dancing about how to be\u00a0a Naturalist.<\/p>\n

July 29 Dragon Theater at Hoodland<\/p>\n

July 1 & 31 We started and ended the month with Bricks for Kidz\u00a0LEGO\u00a0program. \u00a0Families at Hoodland and Sandy Library had lots of fun! Though attendance was limited by those the presenter, those who did attend loved it. The success of the event has inspired the\u00a0start of a (soon to be announced) LEGO\u00a0club at the library.<\/p>\n

Summer Reading sign-up \u00a0numbers:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Sandy: 581 kids, 186 teens. Hoodland: 79 Kids,\u00a017 Teens<\/p>\n

Marketing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Twenty-one books were checked out from the July “SUMMER FUN” adult book display.<\/span>

We solicited community involvement in the process of choosing books, gathering pieces, and setting up\u00a0a\u00a0display featuring our<\/span>\u00a0great arts and crafts books with\u00a0projects completed from them. \u00a0There are some beautiful projects, and it’s our best display yet! \u00a0Come in and see it in August.<\/p>\n

Library Board Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Library Advisory Board met on June 16th. \u00a0The Board had lots of energy and ideas, and is looking forward to participating in\u00a0a Strategic Planning process for the Sandy and Hoodland Libraries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
