Summer Reading<\/strong>
Started June 1st and runs through August 31st.\u00a0 Register online<\/a> to get started now!\u00a0 Go to our website<\/a> to see what the reading prizes are and what programs are happening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farmers Markets<\/strong>
This month we talked to 136 (113 last month) people at the Mt Hood Farmers Market and 67 (125 last month) people at the Hoodland Farmers Market.\u00a0 We collected a total of $167 (last month $171) to help us upfit the Mobile Library.\u00a0 We gave away 59 Take & Makes for kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oregon Department of Human Services<\/strong> (ODHS)
ODHS in the Library is taking a break for the month of August.  They will return on September 9th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jugglemania! – 120(!) people attended this Summer Reading program presented by Rhys Thomas in Meinig Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mountain Festival Kids Parade – 41 kids and 19 parents visited the library\u2019s table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lifecycle of a Salmon – 77 kids and 43 adults attended this program at the Sandy Fish Hatchery.\u00a0 Riley Berg – Teen Intern planned fun activities for 6 different stations, and people got to learn about and see large and small salmon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quidditch in the Park – 119 people attended this Harry Potter themed event in Bluff Park.\u00a0 Kids crafted their own broomstick, played quidditch, and enjoyed some butterbeer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Powerplay for the Planet – 3 kids and 3 adults attended this Summer Reading program presented by the Museum Of Natural And Cultural History.

LEGO Club – Sandy 20 kids and 5 adults, Hoodland 10 kids and 6 adults<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEM Club – 9 kids and 6 Adults attended an activity day! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read to the Dog – 5 kids and 3 adults attended to read to Tanis in the first 2 weeks of July.  Tanis is taking a vacation now and will be back to work on August 12th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading Tutoring – 20 one hour sessions of reading tutoring  at Sandy (1 tutor and 1 student each).

Storytimes <\/strong>
<\/strong>Storytime videos were posted in our Facebook Group: Sandy and Hoodland Libraries – Storytime Parents Group.  Use numbers were recorded after 1 week. All Storytimes were presented by librarian Monica Smith – unless otherwise noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sensory Storytime<\/strong> – Presented by Todos Juntos.\u00a0 12 kids and 6 adults attended.\u00a0 This storytime takes place on the First and 3rd Mondays at 10:00 am.\u00a0 It is for Neurodivergent kids or kids that need more individualized attention.

Saturday Storytime\u00a0 <\/strong>is on vacation until September!

<\/strong>Escape Room – 14 teens escaped.\u00a0 The final group escaped in just 35 minutes!\u00a0 Great job!

Ongoing<\/strong>
Makerspace – 14 teens attended to make a laser-engraved, highly detailed historical map of Sandy. 3 models of historical Sandy Buildings are underway: The Sandy Hotel and the first catholic church which burned down, as well as, a Teepee structure. This item when it is finished will be on display in the Sandy Historical Society Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dungeons and Dragons – 14 teens attended this fantasy tabletop role playing game<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teen Hangout – 7 teens attended to play board games – Really Loud Librarians, Tiny Laser Heist, and two games brought by teens 5 Minute Dungeon and Uno Flip<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teen Library Advisory Board (TLAB) – 4 teens attended<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>Gardening for Pollinators – 10 people attended this program presented by OSU Extension Service Master Gardeners Mary Linstrand and Tina Mori.

<\/strong>Ongoing<\/strong>
<\/strong>Mobile Stabilization and Outreach Unit – 7 clients and 5 service providers attended.  This unit is coordinated by Parole and Probation Officer, Amanda Denis from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office with the help of community partners: Love One, 4D, Central City Concern, Parrott Creek, Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), ODHS and Clackamas Behavioral Health.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Red Cross Blood Drive – 51 donors and 8 staff\/volunteers attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creation Station – Creation Station is a twice monthly interactive program that welcomes adults with disabilities.  26 attended the 2nd Monday and 20 attended on the 4th Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fiber Arts Circle – 53 people attended in the Fireplace Room on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Red Cross Blood Drive – 32 people attended and 28 donated blood<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edible Gardening Group – 12 people attended to take part in a discussion led by Teresa Barber about how to turn the things in your garden into healing balms, salves and tinctures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Book-a-Librarian – 3 people attended to learn about hotspot data, switching out a SIM card, and transferring items from an old tablet to a new one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
