Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"TeenTuesdays\"<\/a>Teen Tuesdays Open Gaming Lab was held each Tuesday in August. \u00a037 Teens attended these programs.<\/p>\n

On August 2nd, we partnered with the Oregon Food Bank and Oregon Humanities\u00a0for a discussion titled “Good Food, Bad Food: Agriculture, Ethics, &\u00a0Personal Choice” led by author Kristy Athens<\/p>\n

We held our final kids’ Summer Reading programs at Vista apartments. \u00a02 weeks of Art with Becky Hawley. \u00a0The kids did leaf painting, and created collages. \u00a041 kids participated.<\/p>\n

\"AugustCoffeeHouse<\/a>On August 5th, we held our monthly Library Coffee House. \u00a0Kelsey and the Next Right Thing played to a crowd of 150 people.<\/p>\n

On August 6th, we started our 4 week swing dance program for adults – held at the Sandy Community Center. \u00a030 excited people learned the basics of swing dancing! \u00a0View a video from the class\u00a0here.<\/a><\/p>\n

\"DojoLogo-page-001\"<\/a>On August 10th, Actors Dojo presented Reader’s Theatre\u00a0Plaza Suite<\/em> by Neil Simon.<\/p>\n

On August 23rd, we held our pilot English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) class at the Sandy Library. \u00a0We had an enthusiastic group of teaching assistants and students! \u00a0These drop-in ESOL classes will be held at the Sandy Library every Tuesday and Wednesday starting September 27th!<\/p>\n

Cedar Ridge Middle School<\/p><\/div>\n

Outreach<\/strong>
\nAt the end of August, Library staff attended Open Houses at Kelso Elementary, Firwood Elementary, Sandy Grade School, and Cedar Ridge Middle School to issue library cards and talk about library programs with parents and kids. Staff talked to 105 people at these events.<\/p>\n

Volunteer Recognition<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sandy and Hoodland Libraries closed at 5pm on August 31st so that staff could recognize our 80+ volunteers who assist us on a day to day basis. \u00a0Library staff were in charge of the Sundae Bar – which was a great success!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
