\n\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>Free Comic Book Day 2017! – 36 people in Sandy, and 17 at \u00a0Hoodland to grab Free Comic Books, play games, and make superhero crafts.<\/p>\n

Hora de Cuentos! – Four families came to Spanish Language Storytime in May. This happened while the library was closed to tag for RFID, so was a really great turnout.<\/p>\n

Adult<\/strong>
\nESOL English Language and Culture Classes – 23 students and 18 volunteer teacher’s assistants.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Library Coffee House – 141 people came to listen to Pablo Grabiel and the Steelhead Stalkers and eat treats from Tollgate Bakery\"\"<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Oregon Trail – 16 adults came to listen to\u00a0speakers, John Salisbury and Richard Matthews, cover the length of the Oregon Trail, from Independence to Oregon City, using slides of the trail.<\/p>\n

\nVista Apartments – 72 kids and parents for literacy and STEM activities<\/p>\n

Mt Hood Farmer’s Market – 243 people. The Mt Hood Farmer’s Market is turning out to be a huge success for the library. In addition to all of the people we talked to about library programs, we checked out 268 seeds from the Sandy Seed Library for people to plant in their gardens, issued 9 new library cards, and had 9 teen volunteers help us out there!<\/p>\n

Building<\/strong>
\n\"\"<\/a> RFID<\/strong> at Sandy Library – we had 24 volunteers spend 190.5 hours . plus 19 staff members most working 40 hours during our week of tagging at Sandy Library! We tagged almost 38,000 items that week alone.\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Watch this fun time lapse video<\/a> of some of our expert shifters – Susie Jenkins, Monica Smith, Jack Frick (Friend of the Library), & Suzanne Murray moving books around!<\/p>\n

Two of the collections we moved during this week were Kids’ Nonfiction Collections. We combined our E Non-Fiction (kids up to 2nd grade) and our J Non-Fiction (kids 3rd- 5th grades) collections into one now housed in the Kids’ area! Here is a comment from a staff person shortly after:
\n“On Sunday, I was speaking with a mom about how we moved our kid NF collection out of being interfiled with adult. She has two boys, probably about 6 and 9. She loved the new location. Her kids were normally only checking out “the same three books”. They took different books yesterday because they were able to easily browse the shelves.”<\/p>\n

Training<\/strong>
\nSupervisor Training with Kathy Peck – 5 library supervisors attended this great informative training.<\/p>\n

Exhibits<\/strong>
\nClackamas County Grange Exhibit – This great exhibit to Celebrate 150 years of granges was up for the month of May.
