The City Council approved reviewed an appeal by the applicant to use of galvalume roofing instead of painted metal roofing. \u00a0The council approved this request.<\/p>\n<p>b) File No. 14-012 SUB\/VAR &#8211; A request by Joe Spaziani to create a seven lot subdivision for property located directly north of American Street at the end of Penny Ave. \u00a0The applicant also requests a variance to tree retention standards. \u00a0The application will be heard by the Planning Commission on June 30.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">2)\u00a0BUILDING DIVISION ACTIVITY\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0Total value for the month was $2,013,183.<br style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\" \/>b) 8 permits for single family dwellings with a value of $1,837,801.<br style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\" \/>c) 4 permits for additions to single-family dwellings with a value of $75,561.<br style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\" \/>d) 0 duplexes.<br style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\" \/>e) 2\u00a0commercial permits with a value of $882121.<br style=\"font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\" \/>f) \u00a02 other permits with a value of $10,700.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">FROM TERRE GIFT, BUILDING OFFICIAL &#8211; \u00a0<\/strong>The Building Department had a busy month in May.\u00a0 The volume of inspections has increased, along with the number of site visits and the number of permits issued for Additions to Single Family Homes.<\/p>\n<p>The most notable site visit for the month of May happened on the day a fire occurred at the Boarding House, located at 38756 Pioneer Blvd.\u00a0 The cause of the structural fire appeared to have been electrical.\u00a0 But the fire destroyed the corner room on the lower level.\u00a0 Smoke and water also caused notable damage.\u00a0 The electrical meter was pulled and the gas meter was ordered to be removed also.\u00a0 A full building inspection by the Building Official and Fire Marshal revealed numerous life-safety violations, <a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/planning\/files\/2014\/06\/DSC059941.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-289\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/planning\/files\/2014\/06\/DSC059941-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DSC05994\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/planning\/files\/2014\/06\/DSC059941-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/planning\/files\/2014\/06\/DSC059941-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/planning\/files\/2014\/06\/DSC059941-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>causing the building to be declared an UNSAFE BUILDING that same day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During May five other commercial site visits were conducted in response to Business Licenses and occupancy requests.\u00a0 The site visits revealed a sundry of life-life-safety and accessibility deficiencies.\u00a0 In all cases the fire-life safety items were quickly addressed by the building occupants once they were made aware of the problems.\u00a0\u00a0 Time lines were agreed upon for some of the structural and accessibility deficiencies. \u00a0The City of Sandy is a safer place to work and live.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;font-style: inherit;color: inherit\">3) URBAN RENEWAL\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; We have signed the contract with Full Throttle Construction to complete the first round of projects for this year. \u00a0As it turns out Clackamas County Bank has decided not to participate in this year&#8217;s project. \u00a0The contractor will have 90 days to complete the projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1) APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED\/UNDER REVIEW\u00a0 a) File No. 14-008 DR\/AP &#8211;
