award at the annual Elks dinner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\">On March 20, Chief Yamashita attended the Fares Policy Discussion and made a\u00a0recommendation\u00a0to institute a ridership fare for the SAM bus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #333333;font-style: normal;line-height: 24px\">On March 21, Chief Yamashita conducted a table top\u00a0exercise<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;font-style: normal;line-height: 24px\">\u00a0with the OTSD principals and administrative staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\">As was\u00a0previously\u00a0announced, but so important we added it again here, we passed our accreditation\u00a0inspection\u00a0on March 26th, and will be receiving the award on April 11, 2013 at the Oregon Chief&#8217;s Assoc. dinner. \u00a0The official award will be in front of council on May 6, 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\"><strong>Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\">Diane Reed\u00a0provided\u00a0training to the new reserve officers on the various computer programs that the department uses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\">On March 13th the entire department had firearms training. \u00a0The rain held off and we had a pretty good day. \u00a0We did decision making drills and shot from different positions (laying, kneeling, standing etc).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/files\/2013\/04\/Firearms_Training_II.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-158\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/files\/2013\/04\/Firearms_Training_II.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3072\" height=\"2304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/files\/2013\/04\/Firearms_Training_II.jpg 3072w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/files\/2013\/04\/Firearms_Training_II-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/files\/2013\/04\/Firearms_Training_II-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/files\/2013\/04\/Firearms_Training_II-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 3072px) 100vw, 3072px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\"><strong>School Resource Program (Officer Kevin Way)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Approximately 9 people (teachers, students and parents) contacted me seeking advice or referrals.<\/p>\n<p>I conducted 9 background checks for the school district.<\/p>\n<p>Campus security was notified of a strong smell of marijuana coming from a locker.\u00a0 \u00a0The student was contacted and admitted to placing the marijuana in his locker with the explanation \u201cIt\u2019s not mine, I was holding it for a friend\u201d.\u00a0 The student was charged with Possession of marijuana within\u2019 1000\u2019 of a school and transported to the juvenile department in Oregon City.<\/p>\n<p>Campus security contacted me after finding a student in possession of marijuana.\u00a0 The student consented to a search and marijuana was found inside her backpack, she admitted it belonged to her.\u00a0 The student was charged with Possession of marijuana within\u2019 1000\u2019 of a school and transported to the juvenile department in Oregon City.<\/p>\n<p>I contacted two students, brother and sister, at Sandy grade after a report had been generated regarding possible abuse.\u00a0 Upon the conclusion of my investigation, it was determined no criminal acts had occurred.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\"><strong>Property Room (Juli Smith)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Revenue generated this month was from participation in a joint Drug Take Back Program held at the Sandy Senior Center. \u00a0The Property Room had sales of $250 this month.\u00a0 Yearly sales total $3,425.00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Best practices were updated for the Property Room regarding the preservation of Biological Evidence.\u00a0 All retained urine specimens will now be frozen instead of refrigerated for long term storage and DNA swabs, to include Rape Kits, will no longer be refrigerated, but rather held in storage at room temperature. \u00a0These updates are a result of several years of research by the Technical Working Group on Biological Evidence Preservation and adopted by the International Association of Property &amp;
