{"id":164,"date":"2013-05-14T00:54:42","date_gmt":"2013-05-14T00:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/?p=164"},"modified":"2013-05-16T16:33:20","modified_gmt":"2013-05-16T16:33:20","slug":"council-report-april-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/2013\/05\/14\/council-report-april-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Council Report &#8211; April 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>School Resource Officer Report &#8211; Officer Way<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I had approximately 18 \u00a0people (teachers, students and parents) contact me seeking advice or referrals and conducted 39 background checks for the school district.<\/p>\n<p>An outside agency contacted me requesting information regarding a homicide case they are investigating.<\/p>\n<p>A high school teacher reported smelling marijuana coming from a student\u2019s backpack.\u00a0 Upon further investigation, a small amount of marijuana was located inside the backpack.\u00a0 The student claimed it did not belong to him and stated \u201cI was holding it for a friend\u201d.\u00a0 The student was charged with possessing marijuana within 1000\u2019 of a school and transported to the juvenile department in Oregon City.<\/p>\n<p>A copper theft was reported to me by an employee of a cell phone provider.\u00a0 The employee reported sometime in the past six months someone removed several copper items from the cell tower site located behind the old high school.<\/p>\n<p>Over spring break several power tools were stolen from the environmental science storage shed near the high school.\u00a0 There was no sign of forced entry, it is unknown if the door was left\u00a0unsecured\u00a0or the suspect\/s cut the padlock and took it with them.<\/p>\n<p>I had a Clackamas County Sheriff\u2019s office drug detection K-9 unit conduct a walk-through of the halls at the high school.\u00a0 The K-9 \u201cHit\u201d on several lockers, but no drugs were found.<\/p>\n<p>On three separate occasions I encountered students from other high schools on our high school campus during school hours.\u00a0 Each were waiting to either meet their girl friends for lunch or to meet them after school.\u00a0 Each was polite and unaware they could not be on campus and left without incident.<\/p>\n<p>The principal from Cedar Ridge Middle School requested my assistance with four unwanted juveniles at the skate park during school hours.\u00a0 Officer Hodges and myself responded and contacted the juveniles.\u00a0 Ultimately, the juveniles were advised they are no longer welcome at the skate park (mainly due to their poor attitudes and\u00a0respectfulness) and their parents were contacted and informed of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Property Room &#8211; Julie Smith<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Items Received:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0137\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Year To Date:<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0291<\/p>\n<p><strong>Items Purged:<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a055\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Year To Date:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0180<\/p>\n<p>(Numbers for items received and purged include only cases logged into EvidenceOnQ.
