{"id":263,"date":"2014-07-07T23:36:19","date_gmt":"2014-07-07T23:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/?p=263"},"modified":"2014-07-07T23:36:19","modified_gmt":"2014-07-07T23:36:19","slug":"council-report-june-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/2014\/07\/07\/council-report-june-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Council Report &#8211; June 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Administration<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>We have spent most of the month gearing up and planning for a busy July. \u00a0 In addition to planning for the future we had a busy June.<\/p>\n<p>On the:<\/p>\n<p>June 3rd &#8211; we conducted tours of the SPD for approx. 60 Firwood Elementary school students.<\/p>\n<p>June 4th &#8211; staff meeting were several officers received letters from the public thanking them for their efforts.<\/p>\n<p>June 5th &#8211; we worked with folks from Hood to Coast to take care of the details concerning the new route change &#8211; The course will go down Bluff and the exchange will be at the Sandy HS.<\/p>\n<p>June 10th &#8211; Chief Yamashita represented the Oregon Chief&#8217;s of Police Association at a local board meeting.<\/p>\n<p>June 16th &#8211; we met with the MT Hood Athletic Club to workout details for the Mt. Madness run that will occur Saturday of Mt. Festival.<\/p>\n<p>June 19th &#8211; Chief Yamashita was the guest speaker at the Estacada Chamber Lunch &#8211; We discussed marijuana issues.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Yamashita also taught a woman&#8217;s self defense class at the community center.<\/p>\n<p>We rolled out the first of the new cars for patrol use. \u00a0The process for getting all the installation done has been tough, but Sgt. Roberts is working hard on the project and make great progress. \u00a0We have been labeled as the agency to go to for information on product selection and installation. \u00a0Chief Yamashita even requested information from another chief in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Sandy Lopez is working as a part time contract person to scan and log all of our remaining paper reports. \u00a0We have about 10 years worth of old reports (circa 70&#8217;s 80&#8217;s) that are in storage at the shops. \u00a0We have been increasingly concerned about damage and loss of the records due to accident or weather related incident. \u00a0Having them scanned will also make them much easier to find, sort and search. \u00a0She will only be working for a few months.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning June 2nd, the business office began closing on Friday&#8217;s. \u00a0So far so good, but we continue to monitor the needs of our citizens and other city departments. \u00a0We have not gotten any complaints but stand ready to change the office scheduling if needed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Code Enforcement<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Code Enforcement Officer Moody has been really busy. \u00a0A lost of his activity has been spent trying to get folks to clean up lots and properties before Mt. Festival. \u00a0He took in 53 new code violation complaints and closed out 55.
