On September 7th, we tested several candidates for addition to our Fire Arms Program. \u00a0I am happy to report that the program will see the addition of Officer Steffanson, Officer Sytsma and Officer Olmos as instructors.<\/p>\n

Also on the 7th, we met with the Chamber of Commerce regarding “Travelers” and how we can best calculate the cost of homelessness on our business. \u00a0The event wen’t well. \u00a0 Next steps to is to try to formulate some sort of way to quantify the costs of time loss, clean up, buisness loss etc. \u00a0Chief Yamashita and Seth Atkinson will continue to participate in the statewide workshop regarding this topic.<\/p>\n

On September 14th, Chief Yamashita and Seth Atkinson attended a shelter planning meeting at Sandy HS. \u00a0In addition to school district representatives, members of the county emergency manage and red cross were on had to discuss the ways to designate, stock and prepare shelter space in our local area.<\/p>\n

On September 28th Chief Yamashita and Mayor King attended and spoke at the Citizens Forum on Marijuana Education. \u00a0We heard several stories from local area residents about the problems they face living near marijuana production sites.<\/p>\n

Council Person Olga Gerberg and Chief Yamashita spoke about creating “Healthy Communities” by improving out relationships with diverse cultures in our community.<\/p>\n
