{"id":59,"date":"2012-06-04T23:53:13","date_gmt":"2012-06-04T23:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/?p=59"},"modified":"2012-06-19T00:20:55","modified_gmt":"2012-06-19T00:20:55","slug":"council-report-may-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/police\/2012\/06\/04\/council-report-may-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Council Report &#8211; May 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ADMINISTRATION and TRAINING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All officers participated in our annual firearms qualification in May. \u00a0We re-qualified on duty and off duty\/back-up weapons as well as rifles.<\/p>\n<p>Det. Bickle sent out letters asking for donation for our &#8220;Shop with a Cop&#8221; program. \u00a0So far we have about $3000 in donations. \u00a0We will really be able to help out our community this fall with school cloths and supplies.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to work with the IT department on our transition to thin-client.<\/p>\n<p>We held an orientation meeting with our new\u00a0reserve\u00a0officers and will be bringing them to council for swearing in and introductions soon.<\/p>\n<p>Work continues on the accreditation process. \u00a0After attending a class a few months ago, we learned that we could reduce the cost of the accreditation inspection by scanning and creating hyperlinks to all of the documents that show we are in compliance with specific inspection action items. \u00a0While time consuming on our end, it will speed things up for the inspectors which will in turn save us money. \u00a0Once these processes are automated we should be able to do\u00a0maintenance\u00a0as\u00a0polices\u00a0and\u00a0procedures\u00a0are updated making subsequent re-inspections a breeze, or at least less painful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officer Way picked up a runaway, ran off some trespassers and looked for a subject in the woods near the middle school. \u00a0He also responded this month to two\u00a0separate\u00a0requests for assistance by school administration, assisting them with out of control kids. \u00a0One of the kids was suicidal and needed to be transported to the hospital for an evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>We also had some kids at the elementary school report seeing someone in the woods with a gun. \u00a0An extensive search of the woods was done and we were not able to\u00a0verify\u00a0the kids story. \u00a0At this time it appears to be a case of over-active imagination, however we will continue to do extra patrol just in case<\/p>\n<p>Officer Way \u00a0completed 80 background checks for the OTSD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>INVESTIGATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Detective Bickle is working on several interesting cases, which include a criminal mistreatment\u00a0case, a rape case \u00a0and a stolen car case.\u00a0Additionally, he has some suspects captured on surveillance of a recent burglary. \u00a0The photos of the suspects have been distributed to other Law\u00a0Enforcement\u00a0Agencies asking for help in identifying the suspects. \u00a0He is following up on two prescription fraud cases (one taken by Officer Coates the other taken by Chief Yamashita). \u00a0It appears that these cases may be linked to a larger ring committing fraud\u00a0throughout\u00a0the Pacific NW. \u00a0We have been in contact with the DEA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CODE ENFORCEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Code Enforcement Officer Moody, wrote 9 citations in May. \u00a0He also took in 34 code enforcement related complaints, while clearing 16 pending complaints. \u00a0 He transported two dogs to Clackamas County Dog Services. \u00a0He checked on permits and licenses for the\u00a0electrical\u00a0and construction crews doing work on the new Gentle Dental office space. \u00a0He also keeps an eye on local construction (Gibson homes), watching for any un-\u00a0permitted\u00a0work.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Moody and Reserve Code Enforcement Officer Brett distributed letters (door-to-door) in the Deer Point area. \u00a0The letters were entitled &#8220;Be a Good\u00a0Neighbor&#8221; and provided information on various code enforcement violations, ordinances and things we can all do to make our neighborhoods more enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROPERTY ROOM MONTHLY REPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nothing new to report at this time. \u00a0Watch for Updates!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ADMINISTRATION and TRAINING All officers participated in our annual firearms qualification in May. \u00a0We re-qualified on duty and off duty\/back-up weapons as well as rifles.
