The fish passage improvements constructed by the Portland Water Bureau at our\u00a0intake on Alder Creek were completed in September. During the warm and dry weather we were still able to maintain water production at the treatment plant during construction. City staff\u00a0also took advantage of the opportunity to make some repairs to the intake structure while the stream was dewatered.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2014\/10\/Alder-Creek-Dam-9-29-30-025-1024x683.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-193\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2014\/10\/Alder-Creek-Dam-9-29-30-025-1024x683-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Alder Creek Dam 9-29-30 025 (1024x683)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2014\/10\/Alder-Creek-Dam-9-29-30-025-1024x683-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2014\/10\/Alder-Creek-Dam-9-29-30-025-1024x683-449x300.jpg 449w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2014\/10\/Alder-Creek-Dam-9-29-30-025-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>WASTEWATER &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>A total of 26,700,000 gallons of sewage were treated and re-used for irrigation purposes. Minimum flow was 0.81 MGD on the\u00a04th. Maximum flow was 1.05 MGD on the 24th, (rainfall was 0.15\u00a0inches on the 23rd\u00a0and 0.35 inches on the 24th). A total of one-half\u00a0inch of rainfall was recorded during September.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #373737\">\u00a0BOD concentration was 6.4\u00a0mg\/l; BOD loading was 59.8\u00a0lbs.; permit allows 10 mg\/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 3.7\u00a0 mg\/l; SS loading was 31.5\u00a0lbs.; permit allows 10 mg\/l and 125 lbs. Effluent BOD and SS permit limits do not apply when the treated wastewater is used for irrigation \u2013 these figures are shown to demonstrate treatment efficiency. \u00a0 1,135,250 gallons of sludge (80.25 dry tons) were\u00a0processed during the month. 1,125,000 gallons of sludge (71.25 dry tons) were hauled and spread on local pasture land as fertilizer. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 203 hours.\u00a0Revisions to the backup level controls at Meinig Ave. pump station were made to improve reliability.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>STREETS<\/strong><em>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<\/em>The street sweeping contractor spent 59.5\u00a0hours sweeping streets and collected more than 23\u00a0tons (32 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 178\u00a0lane miles<em>.\u00a0<\/em>The final lane striping on Dubarko and Meinig was completed in September.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: inherit\"><strong>PARKS \/ OTHER &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Bornstedt Park continues to be popular even after school has\u00a0resumed. Over 297,000 gallons of water were used for park irrigation and the splash pad during September.
