Maximum day\u00a0production\u00a0was 1.6 MG on January\u00a015th. 5.41\u00a0inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. A 6&#8243; water main on Bluff Rd. north of Kelso broke (see photo) and was repaired on the 3rd. The temperature was in the 20&#8217;s at the time. We also responded to about a dozen calls regarding burst or frozen pipes on customer premises. PW\u00a0staff replaced a defective valve in a pressure regulating station during the wee hours of the 18th and 19th so that few\u00a0customers would be affected by the shutdown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-351\" src=\"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/publicworks\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_5421.jpg 1632w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>WASTEWATER<\/strong><em><strong> \u2013\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>A total of 53,800,000 gallons of sewage were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was 1.17 MGD on the 31st. Maximum flow was 2.81\u00a0MGD on the 18th. Rainfall was 1.0\u00a0inches on the 17th and 0.35 inches\u00a0on the 18th. A total of 5\u00a0inches\u00a0of rainfall were\u00a0recorded at the treatment plant site during January. BOD concentration was 6\u00a0mg\/l; BOD loading was 85\u00a0lbs; permit allows 10\u00a0mg\/l and 125\u00a0lbs.; SS concentration was 3.5\u00a0mg\/l; SS loading was 68\u00a0lbs.; permit allows 10 mg\/l and 125 lbs. \u00a0We were in compliance with our waste discharge permit for the month of January. No\u00a0sludge was processed, hauled or\u00a0spread during the month.<em>\u00a0<\/em>The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 448\u00a0hours with no significant problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STREETS<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>&amp;\u00a0STORM<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The street sweeping contractor spent 88\u00a0hours sweeping streets and collected more than 65\u00a0tons (91 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 364\u00a0lane miles.\u00a0PW staff was busy during January\u00a0deicing, plowing and sanding streets. we used over 100 tons of sand and over 2,000 gallons of de-icer. The wintry weather caused a temporary shortage of de-icer from the sole supplier in the state.\u00a0We were down to less than 300 gallons at the end of the month. Shortly after\u00a0all the sand was swept\u00a0up strong east winds dropped a lot of tree debris on City streets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PARKS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS \u2013 <\/strong>\u00a0PB&amp;G staff was kept busy clearing snow off sidewalks and parking lots at City buildings and\u00a0parks.\u00a0The strong east winds also dropped a lot of branches and debris in City parks which we started to clean up once the snow was gone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WATER\u00a0\u2013 A total of 33,240,776 gallons of water were treated and delivered, 7,347,000\u00a0gallons from\u00a0Alder Creek treatment plant, 11,785,000\u00a0gallons from\u00a0Brownell Springs and 14,108,776 gallons purchased from City of Portland.
