{"id":158,"date":"2019-01-22T20:40:18","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T20:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/transit\/?p=158"},"modified":"2019-01-22T20:40:18","modified_gmt":"2019-01-22T20:40:18","slug":"transit-staff-report-december-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reports.cityofsandy.com\/transit\/2019\/01\/22\/transit-staff-report-december-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Transit Staff Report &#8212; December 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In December, Transit staff ordered 2 new low-floor 35&#8242; Gillig transit vehicles.\u00a0 Additionally, a Request For Quotes (RFQ) for 2 new STAR vehicles was released.\u00a0 The results of those RFQs will be available in January 2019.\u00a0 \u00a0Also in January 2019, one more RFQ will be released for a low-floor vehicle to replace vehicle #21 in the Sandy Transit fleet.\u00a0 This vehicle primarily operates the Estacada route and has reached its useful life.<\/p>\n<p>Transit staff presented a new Transit Asset Maintenance System (TAMS) to Council in December, highlighting the importance of maintenance and capital planning to keep the Sandy fleet in a &#8220;state of good\u00a0repair&#8221; as outlined by Oregon Department of Transportation.\u00a0 Replacing vehicles which are past their useful life, such as these 2 new Gillig and STAR vehicles, is vital for\u00a0a safe and efficient public transit service.<\/p>\n<p>SAM provided 8,925 rides in December.\u00a0 SAM fixed routes experienced a 13% reduction as compared to last December.\u00a0 Similar to last month, there is a significant drop in SAM Gresham rides; we are exploring the possibility of inaccurate counting due to the drivers\u00a0currently using the new tablets and paper and pencil.\u00a0 As of January 2019, we will begin using tablets only for passenger counts.<\/p>\n<p>Estacada increased by 9.7%.\u00a0 Once again this month, the in-town dial-a-ride (STAR) and the Shopper Shuttle increased.
