Community Services – August 2017

Senior Center (Tanya Richardson)
Right in the middle of a major heat wave the senior center main air conditioning unit went down with a broken compressor.  Fortunately, we were able to get a contractor in quickly and replace the compressor to be back up to be fully operational as a cooling center in the area. Many seniors took advantage of the cool space provided at the senior center. Seniors also enjoyed a trip to the Albany Carousel & Museum, Maryhill Museum, Clackamas County Fair, and a farm visit to buy some peaches.

Special Events

Summer Sounds & Movies in the Park concluded in August with another successful season.  The volunteer picnic coincided with the last summer sounds of the season.  We had about 200 volunteers attend the picnic who enjoyed brats, potato salad, watermelon, chips, and lemonade.  It was a great way to end the season recognizing all our volunteers.

Recreation (Sarah Richardson)
August was a busy month with summer programs wrapping up, the Adult Softball tournament, planning for the fall recreation guide, and preparing for the upcoming Corn Cross and Dogs Day Out at Leopold Farms  The Adult Co-ed Softball league end-of-season tournament was again played at the Hoodview Sports Complex in Happy Valley.
