Special Programs
Kids
We held Dr Seuss Birthday parties at Sandy and Hoodland! 23 kids and 15 adults came to Sandy, and 11 kids and 6 parents came to Hoodland to watch a Dr. Seuss movie and eat cupcakes!
Living Way Preschool (7 kids and 7 adults) and Little Cubs Preschool (17 kids and 5 adults) visited the library in March.
Welches School had an Architect create projects with kids in 3rd and 5th grades. The projects were displayed at the Hoodland Library from March 20th – April 3rd. The kids created diaramas of school playground equipment. There was a reception at the library on March 22nd that 102 parents and kids attended.
Teens
Our Jeopardy Trivia Night had 22 teens attend to duel it out. Three winners got a $25 Amazon gift card.
We talked with 10 teens and 9 adults at the Job Fair with Antfarm. We talked with them about the Job and Career Accelerator database, had books on jobs and careers to check out, and advertised positions for the summer camp the City of Sandy is doing (with Camp Namanu).
Adults
20 people attended our Adult Paint Nite with Library Advisory Board member Melissa Lawrence.
We held a “Know Your Rights” Program in partnership with Programa Hispano at VISTA Apartments. 35 people came.
Ongoing Programs
Kids
Preschool Storytime at Sandy had 62 kids and 42 adults, Wee ones at Sandy had 95 kids and and 93 adults, Hoodland Story time had 41 kids and 26 adults.
Vista Apartments had 106 kids and 14 adults attend to do literacy activities.
Saturday Afternoon Kids’ Club Art Club at Sandy had 25 kids and 25 parents come to make crayon art with Kylie Shai, a Sandy High School student working on her senior project.
Hoodland had 14 kids and 9 adults come to play LEGOS and make art projects in the month of March.
Teens
29 teens attended the twice monthly MakerSpace program.
47 teens attended the twice monthly Anime Club.
23 teens attended the thrice a month Game Factory.
12 teens attended the Teen Library Advisory Board meeting.
Adults
ESOL Classes had 53 students and 23 volunteer teacher helpers in the month of March!
168 people came to hear Aaron Meyer play his violin at Library Coffee House.
We held a talk by The Early Assessment and Support Alliance (EASA). EASA is an early intervention program for adolescents and young adults experiencing psychosis for the first time. 2 people attended.
Our newly revived Photography Group had 7 people attend for Camera 101 lessons. Camera 101 will continue on April 20th.
The Hoodland Book Group had 6 people attend to discuss the book Maytrees by Annie Dillard.
Hoodland did a total of 7 Public Notaries in March.
Celebrations
On May 6th, we celebrated 5 years in our new Sandy Library building! We had cupcakes and waived $5 in fines for anyone who came in the door on that day. We waived a total of $258.55.
