Summer Reading started July 1st! It runs July 1, 2020 – August 31, 2020
This summer join us online for summer reading with Beanstack!. Log your reading, complete activities, write book reviews, and earn virtual badges. Get the Beanstack Tracker app for iOS or Android.
Don’t have access to the Internet? A paper option is available for Kids, Teens, and Adults upon request. These can be picked up using our curbside service! Call the library for details.
Upon completion, all participants will receive a $5 off library fine voucher. Kids and teens will also get to select a book to keep for completing the program.

If you have completed your Summer Reading Challenge, we are ready for you to come to the library to pick up your finisher packet! Click here to check the times for curbside.Look for the “Summer Reading Finisher Books” posted on the windows of the West side of the building at Sandy and on the front windows at Hoodland. Pick out a title and give us a call from outside. We will ask for your name, put together your finisher bag, and then take it out to the Curbside Pickup table for you!
We have also continued to take weekly summer Reading craft kits to Vista Apartments,trying to keep the kids engaged with the library, learning, and reading.
The Libraries are getting ready for when we begin to open to the public (In Phase 2 of the Governor’s Reopening Oregon Plan)! Our protective barriers in place!
Curbside pickup of holds and seeds Starting July 29th we changed how we do curbside pickup! Pickup at Sandy is 10am-4pm Monday-Saturday and 12-4pm on Sunday. At Hoodland 10am-12pm Monday and 12-2pm Tuesday-Friday. Simply park in a designated spot in the library parking lot at Sandy, give us a call, tell us your library card #, which numbered spot you are parked in, and we will check out your holds and set them on the table in your corresponding number.
#s for July: Sandy – 1227 pickups in 30 days. This averages 41 pickups/day(up from 30 last month). Hoodland – 328 pickups in 21 days. Averages 16 pickups/day(up from 14 last month). We checked out a total of 4646 items through curbside pickup!

Every day on the Sandy Public Library Friends Facebook Page, Thea Ellen has been posting an Early Literacy Activity to do with kids, a storytime with a famous person, something about a current topic such as our community blood drive or an author talk and a Library resource or other current available resource.

Virtual – Our virtual Library Book Group on Facebook currently has 62 members.
Sit and Knit a Bit – virtual knitting group had 17 participants
Sandy Seed Library – We checked out 6 seed packets for curbside pickup.
Public Notary – Hoodland 3 by appointment, socially distanced and outdoors!
Training – Library staff continue to do a lot of webinars/trainings.
