Summer Reading
Started June 1st and runs through August 31st.  Register online to get started now!  Go to our website to see what the reading prizes are and what programs are happening!

Farmers Markets
It’s that time of year!  This month we talked to 113 (136 last month) people at the Mt Hood Farmers Market and 125 (177 last month) people at the Hoodland Farmers Market.  We collected a total of $171 (last month $186) to help us upfit the Mobile Library.

Longest Day Parkway
The Library booth gave away branded beach balls and a special Take & Make to 116 people and raised $40 for the upfit of the Mobile Library.

Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS)
ODHS is in the Library. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am – 3:00pm for drop-in assistance.

Mobile Printing Send prints from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Call the library on the same day to have staff release the print job. Pick up your prints in person or through our Curbside Service.

Kids Programs
Ongoing
Take & Make – 120 (100 Sandy and 20 Hoodland). MAke a Magic Wand and Crown  Take & Make available beginning on the 15th day of the month. 

Vista Apartments – 13 kids attended for literacy and STEM activities

Pioneer Mobile Home Park – 19 kids attended to create sun visors

LEGO Club – Sandy 2 kids and 2 adults, Hoodland 5 kids and 3 adults

STEM Club – 24 kids and 6 Adults attended to create sun prints (created with our laser engraver) and launched marshmallows

Read to the Dog – 11 kids and 10 adults attended to read to Tanis

Reading Tutoring – 14 one hour sessions of reading tutoring  at Sandy (1 tutor and 1 student each).

Storytimes
Storytime videos were posted in our Facebook Group: Sandy and Hoodland Libraries – Storytime Parents Group.  Use numbers were recorded after 1 week. All Storytimes were presented by librarian Monica Smith – unless otherwise noted.

Sensory Storytime – Presented by Todos Juntos.  1 kid and 1 adults attended.  This new storytime takes place on the First and 3rd Mondays at 10:00 am.  It is for Neurodivergent kids or kids that need more individualized attention.

Makerspace – 23 teens attended to start making a laser-engraved, highly detailed historical map of Sandy for display in the Sandy Historical Society Museum.

Dungeons and Dragons – 9 teens attended this fantasy tabletop role playing game

Teen Hangout -3 teens attended to play Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes with Virtual Reality 

Teen Library Advisory Board (TLAB) – 4 teens attended

*Take & Make – 125 (100 Sandy, 25 Hoodland) people picked up kits to make felt garland.  We combined Teen and Adult Take & makes! Going forward they will be available on the 1st of each month.

Author Talk – 5 people attended to hear Eric Bullard discuss his book Travel Tales From Around the Globe


Preserve Your Berry Harvest – 6 people attended this presentation by the Oregon State University Extension Service.


Repair Fair – 11 people had 16 items repaired by 5 volunteers

Unlock Your Potential: Publishing Your First Book With Amazon – 6 people attended.

The Buzz About Bees – 11 people attended this presentation by OSU Extension Service Master gardeners Mary Lindstrand and Tina Mori.

Level Up Artist’s reception – 0 people attended.

Ongoing
Mobile Stabilization and Outreach Unit – 15 clients and 5 service providers attended.  This unit is coordinated by Parole and Probation Officer, Amanda Denis from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office with the help of community partners: Love One, 4D, Central City Concern, Parrott Creek, Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), ODHS and Clackamas Behavioral Health.   

American Red Cross Blood Drive – 66 donors and 8 staff/volunteers attended.

Creation Station – Creation Station is a twice monthly interactive program that welcomes adults with disabilities.  22 attended the 2nd Monday and 23 attended on the 4th Monday.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages tutoring –  8 one hour sessions (1 tutor and 1 student each)

Writing Group  – 18 people attended our writing group 

Fiber Arts Circle – 44 people attended in the Fireplace Room on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, and 3 attended at Hoodland

American Red Cross Blood Drive – 35 people attended and 31 donated blood

Mahjong – 5 people attended the beginner mahjong lesson with regular play afterward

Edible Gardening Group – 11 people attended

Book-a-Librarian – 2 people attended to learn how to delete files from their desktop and understand hotspot data.
