WATER – A total of 26,361,800 gallons of water were produced, 14,231,000 at Alder Creek Treatment Plant and 12,130,800 at Brownell Springs. Peak day water production was 1.08 MG on the 13th. A total of 12.72 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during November. The contract for the Portland Water Bureau Intertie Project was advertised on November 13th. A pre-bid meeting for the project was held on November 27th with more than 32 contractors, subs and suppliers attending.
SEWER – A total of 60,580,000 gallons of wastewater were treated and reused for irrigation purposes. Minimum flow was 0.95 MGD on the 10th. Maximum day flow was 4.23 MGD on the 20th. 10.63 inches of rainfall was recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. BOD concentration was 11.1 mg/l; BOD loading was 269 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 9.7 mg/l; SS loading was 253 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. We began discharging to Tickle Creek on November 16th. Since we only discharged to the stream for half the month and because the peak flow was more than 2.5 times the design flow we were able to remain in compliance with our discharge permit. No sludge was hauled during the month due to the unusually wet weather.The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southeast and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 578 hours with no significant problems. Pump hours are up significantly at Northside pump station because of the new variable speed drive. Which means pumps run longer at a lower rpm.
STREETS – The street sweeping contractor spent 92 hours sweeping streets and collected 41 tons (133 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 405 lane miles.
PARKS / OTHER – Parks staff winterized all park facilities and buildings. This consists of cleaning gutters, draining water and irrigation lines and frost-proofing park buildings. Parks staff also installed Christmas lights on City buildings and sites.
