WATER – A total of 40,602,800 gallons of water were produced, 30,664,000 at Alder Creek Treatment Plant and 9,938,800 at Brownell Springs. Peak day water production was 1.57 MG on the 8th. A total of 0.4 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during August. Work continued on the Intertie project. All the reservoir wall sections and columns were poured by the 30th and the underfloor piping and conduit at the booster pump station was installed.
SEWER – A total of 24,480,000 gallons of wastewater were treated and reused for irrigation purposes. Minimum flow was 0.64 MGD on the 29th. Maximum day flow was 0.99 MGD on the 11th. 0.48 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. BOD concentration was 9.4 mg/l; BOD loading was 63 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 8.0 mg/l; SS loading was 54 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. We were in compliance with our discharge permit for the month of August. Effluent BOD and SS limits do not apply when the treated wastewater is used for land application these figures are shown to demonstrate treatment efficiency. 692,700 gallons of sludge (23.5 dry tons) were processed and spread on local pasture land. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southeast and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 254 hours, a pump at Meinig Ave. lift station was sent in for service.
STREETS – The street sweeping contractor spent 47.5 hours sweeping streets and collected 12 tons (24 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 138 lane miles. City crews painted parking stalls, crosswalks and stop bars during the month.
PARKS / OTHER – Parks staff cleaned up after a night of vandalism in Meinig Park on the 21st. Several picnic tables were dumped in NoName creek, the portable toilet in the parking lot was tipped over, trash was emptied out of the containers and dumped in the creek and scattered throughout the park and several park buildings were tagged with graffiti. Sandy Police responded quickly and almost apprehended some people fleeing from the park.
The PW Crew Leader position was filled in August. Kevin Anderson from Eagle Creek was selected. He had worked previously in Estacada and with the City of Beaverton in a similar position.
