WATER – A total of 20,097,000 gallons of water were produced, 12,939,000 at Alder Creek Treatment Plant and 8,031,000 at Brownell Springs. Peak day water production was 1.02 MG on the 3rd. A total of 8.63 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during November.  A transformer at the water plant failed during the windy weather on the 8th, fortunately PGE had a crew mobilized nearby due to the windstorm and they were able to replace the transformer on the same day. Work continued on the Intertie project. The framing for the booster pump station building on Hudson Rd. was finished and the pumping equipment was delivered and installed. The reservoir was completed and work began on the transfer pump station building at the reservoir site. Work also began on the replacement building at Brownell Springs and on the chlorine feed conversion at the water plant.

SEWER – A total of 37,170,000 gallons of wastewater were treated and reused for irrigation purposes. Minimum flow was 0.72 MGD on the 28th. Maximum day flow was 2.18 MGD on the 19th. Rainfall was 0.4″ on the 18th and 0.2″ on the 19th. 5.15 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during November.  BOD concentration was 4.3 mg/l; BOD loading was 51 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 3.2  mg/l; SS loading was 38 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. We were in compliance with our discharge permit for the month of November. Effluent BOD and SS limits do not apply when the treated wastewater is used for land application these figures are shown to demonstrate treatment efficiency.   No sludge was processed during the month.  The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 220 hours with no significant problems.

STREETS – The street sweeping contractor spent 62 hours sweeping streets and collected 91 tons (114 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 381 lane miles. City crews prepared the snowplows, sanders and de-icing equipment for the winter. We spread de-icer on city streets just prior to Thanksgiving for the long weekend.

PARKS / OTHER –  Parks staff winterized all parks facilities and City buildings and installed Christmas lighting and decorations. The City’s consulting arborist reviewed and inspected trees in City parks, open space and right-of-ways.  PW staff continued cleaning catch basins and storm drainage pipes.
