WATER – A total of 39,460,000 gallons of water were delivered, 12,523,000 at Alder Creek Treatment Plant, 12,096,000 at Brownell Springs and 14,841,000 purchased from City of Portland. Peak day water delivery was 1.472 MG on the 7th. A total of 5.21 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during June. Delivery and pumping from the Portland Water Bureau source was consistent throughout June. Both the booster pump station and transfer pump station ran without significant problems. Work on the Intertie project continued. The contractor is working on punchlist items. The Skyview Acres connection was completed and placed into service on June 28th.
SEWER – A total of 32,130,000 gallons of wastewater were treated and pumped to Iseli Nursery and used for irrigation. Minimum flow was 0.86 MGD on the 10th. Maximum day flow was 2.5 MGD on the 27th. Rainfall was .15″ on June 26th and .10″ on the 27th. 3.95 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during June. BOD concentration was 12.9 mg/l; BOD loading was 104 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 7.5 mg/l; SS loading was 60.5 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. We were in compliance with our discharge permit for the month of June. Effluent BOD and SS permit limits do not apply when the treated wastewater is used for land application – these figures are shown to demonstrate treatment efficiency. No sludge was processed during the month. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 241 hours with no significant problems.
STREETS – The street sweeping contractor spent 51 hours sweeping streets and collected more than 17 tons (24 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 131 lane miles.
PARKS / OTHER – The splash pad at Bornstedt Park is very popular – over 425,000 gallons of water were used for turf irrigation and the splash pad. The summer seasonal worker used our boom mower to mow weeds in unimproved rights-of-way. This went a lot quicker than the hand work used in previous seasons.
