Monthly Report – December 2021, Public Works Department
WATER – A total of 34,223,524 gallons of water were treated and delivered during December. 11,738,500 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant; 7,195,000 gallons from Brownell Springs and 15,290,002 524 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Peak day production was 1,579,693 gallons on December 7th. 12.99 inches of rainfall were recorded at the water treatment plant site during the month with a peak of 1.71 inches on the 19th.
WASTEWATER – A total of 58,310,000 gallons of sewage were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek during the month of December. Maximum flow was 3.55 MGD on the 19th (rainfall was 0.8 inches on the 11th and 1.23 inches on the 12th). Monthly rainfall recorded at the plant was 11.43 inches with a peak of 1.57 inches on the 20th. 471,180 gallons of sludge were dewatered, processed and landfilled during the month. Monthly Average Effluent BOD was 6.85 mg/l. Monthly Average Effluent TSS was 10.13 mg/l. Monthly average permit limits are 10 mg/l for BOD and TSS. There was a partial bypass around the effluent filters and the equalization basin on the 21st. The influent screen assembly slipped on the shaft and was repaired. Minor repairs were performed on the sludge press and grit collector. Main line bursting, service line replacement and lining continued in December. Supply chain issues with liner materials delayed the completion of some smaller diameter private service lateral lining.
STREETS – The City’s street sweeping contractor devoted 109 hours to sweeping streets, covering 290 travel and lane miles and collecting and disposing of 50 cubic yards of debris.
STORMWATER – City staff responded to localized street flooding calls and removed debris from catch basin drains and stormwater facilities during the larger storm events in December.
