WATER – A total of 38,734,500 gallons of water were treated and delivered, 13,284,000 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant, 10,584,000 gallons from Brownell Springs and 14,866,500 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Maximum day production was 1.72 MG on September 1st. 4.72 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. Two failed pumps and motors were replaced at Terra Fern pump station. CH2M staff worked on replacing the influent header to one of the filter units. City staff removed the last of the sludge from the backwash pond and graded and re-seeded the storage area at the treatment plant site.
WASTEWATER – A total of 33,830,000 gallons of sewage were treated and pumped to Iseli Nursery for irrigation. Minimum flow was 0.7 MGD on the 24th. Maximum flow was 1.69 MGD on the 18th. Rainfall was 1.25 inches on the 17th and 0.5 inches on the 18th. A total of 3.25 inches of rainfall were recorded during September. BOD concentration was 19.3 mg/l; BOD loading was 181 lbs; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 21.9 mg/l; SS loading was 208 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. Permit limits do not apply when the water is used for irrigation, these figures are shown to demonstrate plant efficiency. 209 metric tons of sludge was processed and 381 metric tons were hauled and spread on DEQ-approved pasture sites. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 274 hours with no significant problems. CH2M staff replaced some of the surface media on the effluent filters in September.
STREETS & STORM – The street sweeping contractor spent 57 hours sweeping streets and collected more than 19 tons (32 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 173 lane miles. PW Staff used 6 tons of asphalt patching potholes and utility trenches.
PARKS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS – Parks, Buildings and Grounds staff closed off portions of the dog park at Sandy Bluff in order to re-seed the area.
