WATER – A total of 30,206,612 gallons of water were treated and delivered, 7,572,000 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant, 9,979,200 gallons from Brownell Springs and 12,655,412 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Maximum day production was 1.54 MG on November 29th. 9.01 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during the month.

WASTEWATER – A total of 61,170,000 gallons of sewage were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was 1.24 MGD on the 23rd. Maximum flow was 3.46 MGD on the 25th. Rainfall was 1.41 inches on the 24th and 0.15 inches on the 25th. A total of 9.55 inches of rainfall were recorded during October.  BOD concentration was 6 mg/l; BOD loading was 83 lbs; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 7 mg/l; SS loading was 71 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.  No sludge was processed hauled or spread during November. The transmittance monitor on the UV disinfection system failed in November. The new unit was ordered and when it arrived it was placed into service. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 554 hours with no significant problems.

STREETS & STORM – The street sweeping contractor spent 125 hours sweeping streets and collected more than 85 tons (125 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 500 lane miles. We were fortunate to get almost all of the fall leaves collected with a single sweeping in November. Some years we pay for an additional sweep if there are still a lot of leaves left to drop after the first trip. City crews installed signs for the Transit department’s new in-town bus route, prepped and patched several failed trench patches on the south bound lane in North Bluff and readied the snow and ice control equipment for use this winter.

PARKS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS –  PB&G staff installed Christmas lights on City buildings and winterized buildings and irrigation systems in City parks. Public Works staff set up the Christmas tree in Centennial Plaza. We believe we have reached the height limit for Christmas trees for access using our existing equipment with this year’s edition.
