Transit Staff Report-September 2026

From the Transit Manager

August Ridership

During a recent audit of our tracking software we discovered we need to wait about two weeks to completely update the data. Considering that, we will now be posting ridership data one month later.

Overall, August 2026 ridership increased by 7.58% (9,021 rides) compared with August 2025. SAM-Gresham increased by 7.48%, providing 6,323 rides. SAM-Estacada had a slight decline of 12.46%, providing 794 rides. SAM-Clackamas saw a substantial increase of 49.89% or 667 passengers. The Shopper Shuttle also had a considerable increase of 25.05% compared to August 2025.

SAM rides provided 542 rides, a decrease of 11% compared to August 2025. This decrease is likely because we didn’t do a special run for Sandy Night Out. SAM med increased by 10.989%, with 91 transit rides.

Sandy-Clackamas Partnership

The City of Sandy continues to oversee the operations of Mt. Hood Express on behalf of the County. In August, Mt Hood Express transported 2,708 passengers and the Villages Shuttle transported 1,052 passengers. SAM also provided 102 rides to Clackamas County residents outside the City on behalf of the County. We received $13,196.69 in revenue for this service and $5,347 for the operation of Mt Hood Express. Total revenue for August was $18,543.69.

Camo Con Partnership

We are partnering with the Chamber’s Camo Con event to provide a safe transportation option for participants! We will have both an Uber like curb-to-curb service to and from the event as well as a trolley circulating throughout the evening to the event locations!
