HR Report – May 2025

For month of April, this is what was happening in Human Resources:

The library posted and scheduled interviews for their Grant Funded Teen Intern Limited Duration position with an anticipated hiring decision the first of May

A conditional offer was placed for the Community Service Officer

A new employee started in SandyNet as a Telecom Utility Worker

Seasonal Recruitment started for the Streets Maintenance Worker

HR Report – March 2025

Public Director interviews took place on on March 20th. The top three candidates were interviewed.

Community Service Officer interviews were scheduled and will take place in the first week of April. Hoping for a start date of middle of May.

SandyNet/IT interviewed for a Telecom Utility worker. An offer was extended and the new employee starts in April.

HR Report – February 2025

ID Entry Badges are delayed a month as we wait on the correct card determination from IT.

Jordan Ferguson Lateral Police Officer start date changed to 3/17/2025.

Interviews for the Community Resource Officer will happen towards the end of March.

Application review occurred for the SandyNet/IT Telecom Utility Worker I position interviews scheduled for the end of the month.

HR Report – January 2025

The updated Personnel Policies are almost complete and ready for Council Adoption.

ID Entry Badges photos for all employees have been taken and the order will be placed in February to begin the first steps to a more secured entry into City buildings.

Jordan Ferguson finished all phases of police background and will start as a Lateral Police Officer on 2/24/2025.

A conditional job offer was made to a recruit officer from the interviews that took place on Jan 7th and 22nd. This is the final approved FTE for police at the moment.

Recruitment will begin in February on the newly approved position of Community Resource Officer.

SandyNet/IT posted a replacement position for a Telecom Utility Worker I.

HR Report – December 2024

The Utility Specialist II will start in the finance department on January 6th, 2024.

No current updates regarding the Public Works Director position. Still in the process of recruiting.

The library hired a new librarian to fill the vacancy and he started 12/16.

The Holiday Luncheon for employees was December 12th and had a wonderful turn out. A great time for staff to relax and share a meal together.

Sam Craven was selected as our new Police Lt. and begins his assignment on 12/24/2024. An internal recruitment was conducted with four candidates applying.

The police will be having an oral board on January 7th with the hopes of filling the final approved spot for a Police Officer.

HR Report – November

The finance department will be replacing the Utility Specialist position and will begin recruitment end of November with the hope of interviews in December.

The Engineering Technician Molly Thompson started the end of October.

Two new police officers joined the team at the end of October. They are considered a lateral but still needs to complete field training.

Jenson Strategies will be handling the recruitment for the Public Works Director position.

The City Manager review was completed.

The library posted for a Librarian opening due to a resignation and interviews should be taking place in December.

Planning for the upcoming Holiday Luncheon for employees that happens on December 12th.

An internal recruitment opened up for Police Lt. and interviews will be Dec. 10th.

HR Report – September 2024

Tyler Wallace is our new Finance Director will start October 24th.

Interviews are scheduled for the Engineering Technician in Public Works the 1st week of October.

Kim Yamashita ended her interim assignment as of Police Chief.

Police are conducting another set of oral boards for their current openings. The goal is to have offers out and finish all backgrounds by next month.

Conversations started for the City Manager review process with two selected council members who will be assisting in the implementation process. The goal will be for the review to start next month.



HR Report August 2024

Police Chief Patrick Huskey started on August 1st, 2024

An interview for the Finance Director was held on August 1st with Department Heads and Finance staff and an offer was extended.

Two staff retired from the City of Sandy this month. Chris Wilhelmi our Assistant Library Director and Jeff Argubright, Police Officer.

Background processes for two Police Officers are still in process.

Engineering Technician position was reposted due to lack of candidates.

David Snider, the Economic Development Manager’s last day was August 1st, due to layoff.

Library posted two on-call shelver positions that were filled. Library is currently fully staffed.

Preparation for Open Enrollment has begun.

HR Report July 2024

A 3.7% COLA was given on 7/1/2024 for city staff.

A qualified finance director candidate was received and will be interviewed on August 1st.

Public works posted a replacement position for an Engineering Technician.

Police Chief candidate Patrick Huskey passed all requirement background requirements and a formal start date of August 1st was decided. Interim Chief Yamashita will overlap with Patrick through 9/23/2024 which also be her final day with the City.

Library staff had two resignations for on-call positions and will start a recruitment next month for those positions.

HR Report – June 2024

The Finance position will be posted again as a Finance Manager or Finance Director based on experience. Hope to conduct any candidate interviews in July.

Many changes are happening with Paid Leave Oregon beginning July 1st, 2024. Many of the job protect leaves that OFLA (Oregon Family Leave Act) covered will be removed and added into Paid Leave Oregon program. There is numerous administrative changes that happens with this change. The employee handbook has been put on hold until all the new legislation has been finalized and updated documents are available for distribution.

Police continue to recruit for Patrol Officer positions. Two are in the background process. The recruitment will stay open to continue to source and develop a deeper eligibility list to drawn from if the current two in background fall out.

The second round of Police Chief Interviews occurred on June 7th. Three successful candidates were brought forward from the recruitment efforts. An offer was extended and accepted. The background process started.

Library received a grant for their teen intern program and an offer was extended for a limited duration position. Chris Wilhelmi also retired from the City on June 26th and a reception was held at the library community room.

SandyNet hired a telecom utility worker to fill a recent vacancy.
