Monthly Report – October 2013

SandyNet

WiFi – WiFi service continues to grow. We had 23 new installations for the month of October. We are continuing to add infrastructure enhancements as needed to maintain service levels.

Oregon Connections Conference – I was pleased to attend this years Oregon Connections Conference and had the opportunity to present during a panel session. The panel consisted of the four communities that were awarded the broadband strategic planning grant from the State earlier this year. It was an excellent conference and always proves to be a great event for networking with fellow broadband advocates around the state.

Fiber to the Home – I was able to attend the Calix User Group conference this month. I met some great leaders in the telecom industry and had a chance to pick their brains about what has been successful in their companies. I was also able to get some updates on the latest technology in FTTH equipment and see what is coming down the pipe in the next 10 to 15 years. I can say our deployment plans look like they will provide a very robust and sustainable solution for our community for the foreseeable future.

Business Fiber – No major developments in the business sector. We are still pursuing a few leads that have not come to fruition yet.

SandyNet Board Meeting – We will be having a SandyNet Board meeting on Thursday 11/21/13.
