WATER – A total of 27,478,200 gallons of water were produced, 13,980,000 at Alder Creek Treatment Plant and 13,498,200 at Brownell Springs. Peak day water production was 1.14 MG on December 19th. A total of 7.62 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. The treatment plant shut down for about 12 hours on the 30th until water quality in Alder Creek improved and water production resumed.  The leaking roof at Terra Fern pump station was repaired. City staff received training on the new automated meter reading system and installed 16 meters in the Salmon Creek subdivision, west of 362nd. There is an issue with the radio transceiver that will keep us from placing the system into service until it is resolved.

SEWER – A total of 33,000,000 gallons of wastewater were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was .63 MGD on the 25th. Maximum day flow was 3.83 MGD on the 30th, (1.6” rainfall on the 29th and 0.35” on the 30th). A total of 4.57 inches of rainfall was recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. We were in compliance with our waste discharge permit for the month of December. BOD concentration was 5.43 mg/l; BOD loading was 42 lbs.; permit allows 20 mg/l and 83 lbs.; SS concentration was 7.8 mg/l; SS loading was 42 lbs.; permit allows 20 mg/l and 83 lbs. No sludge was hauled during the month of December. The pumps at Marcy St., Meinig Ave., Southeast, Northside and Sleepy Hollow lift stations ran a total of 219 hours with no significant problems.

STREETS The street sweeping contractor spent 72 hours sweeping streets and collected 35 tons (64 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 245 lane miles.

PARKS / OTHER We lost a few trees along the Tickle Creek Trail during the windy weather on New Year’s weekend.
