Monthly Report January, 2016 – Public Works Department

WATER – A total of 30,104,800 gallons of water were treated and delivered, 4,830,000 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant, 10,936,800 gallons from Brownell Springs and 14,338,000 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Maximum day production was 1.42 MG on January 13th. 10.27 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during the month.  

WASTEWATER – A total of 79,980,000 gallons of sewage were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was 1.44 MGD on the 1st. Maximum flow was 5.24 MGD on the 7th. Rainfall was 1.0 inches on the 6th and 1.2 on the 7th. A total of 10.65 inches of rainfall were recorded during January.  BOD concentration was 10.2 mg/l; BOD loading was 216 lbs; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 15.3 mg/l; SS loading was 336 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.  Due to equipment failure and heavy rainfall in January the wastewater plant exceeded permit limits.  The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 923 hours with no significant problems.

STREETS & STORM – The street sweeping contractor spent 63 hours sweeping streets and collected more than 20 tons (33 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 194 lane miles. We applied liquid de-icer to all arterial and collector streets twice in January.

PARKS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS –  The contractor performing the invasive species removal in the Tickle Creek corridor sprayed all the invasives and began removing plants that had been sprayed in January.
