Monthly Report – Public Works Department – February 2013

WATER – A total of 24,008,200 gallons of water were produced, 11,896,000 at Alder Creek Treatment Plant and 12,112,200 at Brownell Springs. Peak day water production was 0.99 MG on the 6th. A total of 4.13 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during February.  The pre-construction conference for the Intertie Project was held on February 4th. PW staff began exercising valves in the distribution system and updating records and location information.

SEWER – A total of 33,040,000 gallons of wastewater were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was .84 MGD on the 19th. Maximum day flow was 2.41 MGD on the 1st. Rainfall on January 31st was .77″ and .64 on the 1st. 2.47 inches of rainfall was recorded at the treatment plant site during the month. BOD concentration was 5.5 mg/l; BOD loading was 52.3 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 4.4  mg/l; SS loading was 40.2 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. We were in compliance with our discharge permit for the month of February.  No sludge  was processed or hauled during the month due to the wet weather. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southeast and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 387 hours. One of the pumps at Northside pump station was removed and sent away for repairs.  City staff cleaned approximately 6,000 feet of 6″, 8″ and 10″ sewer line south of US 26 and east of Meinig Ave. in February.

STREETS – The street sweeping contractor spent 44 hours sweeping streets and collected 19 tons (23 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 168 lane miles.
