Monthly Report – September 2015 – Public Works Department

WATER – A total of 37,746,000 gallons of water were delivered, 19,120,000 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant, 3,900,000 gallons from Brownell Springs and 14,726,000 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Maximum day production was 1.54 MG on September 30th. 1.89 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during September.

WASTEWATER – A total of 34,730,000 gallons of sewage were treated and used for irrigation. Minimum flow was 1.01 MGD on the 9th. Maximum flow was 1.47 MGD on the 17th. Rainfall was 0.07 inches on the 16th and 0.5 on the 17th. A total of 1.38 inches of rainfall were recorded during September.  BOD concentration was 8.3 mg/l; BOD loading was 80 lbs; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 15 mg/l; SS loading was 146 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.  Effluent permit loading and limits do not apply when treated wastewater is used for irrigation. These figures are shown to demonstrate treatment efficiency.Twenty-seven metric tons of sludge were processed in September and 16.2 metric tons were hauled and spread on local pasture land. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 253 hours with no significant problems.

STREETS – The street sweeping contractor spent 56 hours sweeping streets and collected more than 40 tons (24 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 203 lane miles.

PARKS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS – Staff placed bark dust at City Hall, and various public paths around the city. Vegetation around the Veterans Memorial was trimmed.
