Monthly Report – Public Works Department – January 2018

WATER – A total of 29,836,000 gallons of water were treated and delivered during the month. 10,126,000 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant, 5,820,000 gallons from Brownell Springs and 13,890,000 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Maximum day production was 1.14 MG on January 10th. 11.12 inches of rainfall were recorded at the water treatment plant site during the month.

WASTEWATER – A total of 50,780,000 gallons of sewage were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was 0.87 MGD on the 11th. Maximum flow was 2.62 MGD on the 22nd. Rainfall was 0.5 inches on the 21st and 0.75 inches on the 22nd. A total of 9.56 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during January. BOD concentration was 8.0 mg/l; BOD loading was 114 lbs; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 12.0 mg/l; SS loading was 128 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. There was an exceedance of the permit limits for ammonia on January 3rd. 165 tons of sludge was hauled to landfill during the month. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 625 hours. Monitoring equipment for pump starts was installed at two pump stations as part of the Wastewater Facilities Plan.

STREETS & STORM – The street sweeping contractor spent a total of 57 hours sweeping streets collecting 17 tons (22 cubic yards) of debris.

 

Monthly Report December 2017 – Public Works Department

WATER – A total of 33,128,000 gallons of water were treated and delivered during the month. 11,848,000 gallons from Alder Creek treatment plant, 7,180,000 gallons from Brownell Springs and 11,100,100 gallons purchased from City of Portland. Maximum day production was 1.23 MG on December 11th. 7.0 inches of rainfall were recorded at the water treatment plant site during the month. Due to a communications failure in the SCADA system we did not take any water from the PWB source between December 9th and December 14th. Public Works had a water leak repair callout on Christmas Day.

WASTEWATER – A total of 41,970,000 gallons of sewage were treated and discharged to Tickle Creek. Minimum flow was 0.7 MGD on the 15th. Maximum flow was 2.9 MGD on the 29th. Rainfall was 0.8 inches on the 28th and 0.6 inches on the 29th. A total of 4.55 inches of rainfall were recorded at the treatment plant site during December. BOD concentration was 5.0 mg/l; BOD loading was 56 lbs; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs.; SS concentration was 5.0 mg/l; SS loading was 69 lbs.; permit allows 10 mg/l and 125 lbs. There were three weekly ammonia permit violations and one monthly average permit violation. It is believed that these were a result of processing stored sludge and running the liquid waste stream from this process back through the plant. 10.1 tons of sludge were processed and stored during the month. The pumps at Marcy St.; Northside, Southside, Southeast, Southwest and Meinig Ave. lift stations ran a total of 553 hours with no significant issues. Public Works staff repaired infiltration leaks in two manholes. Flow monitoring equipment for the Wastewater Facilities Plan was installed in 9 manholes in different drainage basins and at the wastewater treatment plant during the week before Christmas.

STREETS & STORM – The street sweeping contractor spent  91 hours sweeping streets and collected more than 16 tons (112 cu. yds.) of debris, covering 310 lane miles. Approximately 20 hours of overtime was devoted to plowing, sanding and de-icing operations over the Christmas holiday.
