Sandy Mountain Festival Parade
The Library was entry #77. A great time was had by all. We won 2nd place in the marching category!

Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS)
ODHS is in the Library. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am – 3:00pm for drop-in assistance.

Special
Mountain Festival kids parade – 119 kids came to the library booth to make parade streamers and fish garbage out of a pond.

Fantastic Freshwater Ecosystems – 10 kids and 6 adults came to this Summer Reading program offered by Rick Reynolds in Meinig Park.

Endangered Species Scavenger Hunt – Sandy 134, Hoodland 3

Take & Make – 170 (150 Sandy and 20 Hoodland). Sunshine Journal. Take & Make available beginning on the 15th day of the month.  

Vista Apartments – 20 kids attended for literacy, STEM activities.

Pioneer Mobile Home Park – 34 kids and 10 adults attended this monthly outreach to attend a mini carnival.

LEGO Club – Hoodland 7 kids and 7 adults

Read to the Dog – 14 kids attended to read to Tanis

Reading Tutoring – 21 one hour sessions of reading tutoring  at Sandy (1 tutor and 1 student each).

Storytimes
Storytime videos were posted in our Facebook Group: Sandy and Hoodland Libraries – Storytime Parents Group.  Use numbers were recorded after 1 week. All Storytimes were presented by librarian Monica Smith – unless otherwise noted.

Harry Potter’s Birthday –   300 People came to create potions, get sorted into their house, do crafts, and eat/drink Harry Potter themed food and drinks.

Take & Make – 99 (77 Sandy and 12 Hoodland). Create your own Henna Tattoo.  Take & Make available beginning on the 1st day of the month.

Makerspace – 32 teens attended our 5 week camps.  This month they learned how to sew patches onto canvas bags and build a Tetrahedral Kite.

Dungeons and Dragons – 11 teens attended this fantasy tabletop role playing game

Teen Hangout – 3 teens attended to make Plantable Poppy Seed paper.

Teen Library Advisory Board (TLAB) – 3 teens attended to work on their Japanese and Korean culinary adventure.

Adult Programs
Special
Phame acting class – 8 adults with developmental disabilities attended.

*NEW* Mobile Stabilization and Outreach Unit – 13 clients and 9 service providers attended.  This unit is coordinated by Parole and Probation Officer, Amanda Denis from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office with the help of community partners: Love One, 4D, Central City Concern, Parrott Creek, Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), ODHS and Clackamas Behavioral Health.   Their mission is to work collectively to find and assist adults who are on supervision, unsheltered and seeking stabilization in the community. They provide interventions, resources and accountability services to support their clients and community safety.

Take & Make – 30 (20 Sandy and 10 Hoodland).  Sunshine Journal.  Take & Make available beginning on the 15th day of the month.

Blood drive with the American Red Cross – 56 people attended, 47 donors

Spanish Language Class – 11 people attended with one teacher

Creation Station – Creation Station is a twice monthly interactive program that welcomes adults with disabilities.  20 people attended on the 2nd Monday of the month, and 20 attended on the 4th Monday.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Class – 6 people attended with 1 teacher
ESOL tutor – 7 one hour sessions (1 tutor and 1 student each)

Writing Group  – 26 people attended our writing group 

Fiber Arts Circle – 32 people attended in the Fireplace Room on Tuesday afternoons

French Conversation group – 6 people attended this new group at Hoodland Library.

Lake Oswego Reads is a group exhibit by 20 artists based on the book Honor by Thrifty Umrigar at Sandy Library until September 3rd.
