Special Programs
Family
Longest Day Parkway – library staff talked with 264 people! We gave out Summer Reading packets, talked up the Sandy Seed Library, and gave out popcorn and mood pencils.

Teen
Paint Nite – 22 teens.  Library Board Member Melissa Lawrence led teens step by step through a painting.

Adult
Spain Travel Talk – 13 people.  Monica Smith, Katie Murphy and Tracy Brown presented slides and talked about their recent travels in Spain.

 

Paint Nite – 18 people.  Library Board Member Melissa Lawrence led adults step by step through a painting.

 

Library Coffee House – 203 people came to hear Skip Von Kuske & Will West. Skip Von Kuske plays Cello (Portland Cello Project) and Will West plays guitar (The Friendly Strangers).

We held a Beginning Vegetable Gardening seminar and 11 people came.

Wy’East Artisan Guild started a weekly youth art program on June 21st in partnership with the library. We had a great start our first 2 weeks, 28 kids and parents attending.

Teen
Game Factory – 24 teens
MakerSpace – 24. Teens designed items with duct tape.
Anime Club – 42. Teens made candy sushi!

Adult
English Classes (ESOL)

12 volunteer teacher’s aides

We are switching to tutoring for the summer months. We held an English Tutor Training, and 12 people came.

 

Hoodland Book Group – 6 people came to discuss the book Plainsong by Kent Haruf.

Outreach
Rebecca Robinowitz visited the Sandy High School to promote Summer Reading and gave out 38 packets to interested teens.

 

Staff and 7 teen volunteers talked to 239 people at the Mt Hood Farmers Market! We gave out 307 seed packets from the Sandy Seed Library, issued 8 new library cards, and gave out 25 Adult Summer Reading packets, 40 kids summer reading packets, and 8 teen summer reading packets.

Training
Sarah McIntyre attended the AntFarm Lunch and Learn on Senior Resources. It was packed with great information.
