Library Activities: March 2021

Welcome Back into the Library buildings!
Beginning Monday, March 1st, Sandy and Hoodland Libraries began limited browsing hours.
We have had between 20-50 people per day at Sandy, and Hoodland had 56 appointments (maximum 48/week).

Sandy Library drop-in browsing times :
Sunday: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Monday: 2:00 -4:00 pm
Tuesday: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Wednesday: 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Thursday: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Friday: 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm  

Hoodland Library – browsing by appointment. Call (503) 622-3460 to schedule.

Sandy Seed Library- we checked out 80 seed packets in March.
Just in time for Spring planting!  Come to the west side entrance during the seed library open hours.
Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm and 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Tuesday & Thursday: 10:00 am – 12 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Computers by Appointment at Sandy we had 124 people schedule appointments to use the computers.  Our capacity in March was 63 appointments/week. At Hoodland we had 32 people schedule appointments to use the computers.  Capacity at Hoodland was 12 appointments/week in the first half of the month, we increased capacity to 24 in the second half.  People need to call to make an appointment.

Saturday & Sunday: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Tuesday & Thursday:  2:00 – 5:00 pm

Hoodland Computer Lab Hours:
Monday 12:00 -2:00 pm
Tuesday – Saturday 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Mobile Printing People are utilizing our mobile printing services.  Send prints from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.  Once the print job is sent, it will sit in a queue waiting to be released to print.  Call the library on the same day to have staff release the print job. Pick up your prints through our Curbside Service.  For a limited time, printing is free of charge.

Statistics for mobile printing:
Sandy – 34 users printed 117 jobs (301 pages)
Hoodland – 10 users printed 33 jobs (113 pages)

eCards – Sandy created 12 (plus 36 in person!) new library accounts, Hoodland created 4 (plus 6 in person!).

Curbside pickup of holds Pickup at Sandy is 10am-4pm Monday-Saturday and 12-4pm on Sunday.  At Hoodland 10am-12pm Monday and 12-2pm Tuesday-Friday. 

Sandy – 1366 pickups in 31 days.  This averages 44 pickups/day(down from 65 last month).  4320 items
Hoodland – 374 pickups in 27 days.  Averages 14 pickups/day(down from 17 last month).  1406 items

Browsing checkouts in the buildings!  Browsing at Sandy and Hoodland is 2 hours/day
Sandy – 609 sessions. This averages 20 sessions/day. 3877 items
Hoodland – 53 sessions.  This averages 2 sessions/day. 489 items

We checked out a total of 10,092 items(up from last month’s 6803) through curbside pickup and browsing!

Every day on the Sandy Public Library Friends Facebook Page, Thea Ellen has been posting an Early Literacy Activity to do with kids, a storytime with a famous person, something about a current topic and a Library resource or other current available resource.

Each January LINCC Libraries hold a Teen art contest.  The winner’s art is used for Summer Reading.  This year, Sandy Library had 5 submissions.  This year’s winner was Avery, a 10th grader who visits the West Linn Public Library.

6 people in the Digital Book Club discussed The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See.  

7 people attended the Women’s Book Club using zoom to discuss Charlotte’s Web by E B White

Photography Group – 3 people attended a Show-No-Tell program.  Photos were submitted without any information about them, and attendees critiqued and quessed who the photographer was.

Sit and Knit a Bit – virtual knitting group had 9 participants
